Who Needs The Sun?! Pseudo Beach Shot
Pseudo Beach Shot
In typical English fashion it seems that our notoriously fickle summer has been and gone in the blink of an eye this has somewhat shattered all my hopes and dreams of a photoshoot on the beach:( Nevertheless I did manage to get one ‘beach’ themed shot in this year, thanks to my fab client at maxcleavge who hired me, back in February to shot their swimwear campaign.
As you can imagine the weather back in February was hardly ideal for a model to be lying around in a bikini so we decided to shoot the campaign in my studio using fake fibre glass rocks. This proved to be somewhat challenging as fibre glass is almost as heavy as actual rocks and as bad luck would have it my assistent had actually broken his wrist the week before so all the lifting had to be done by my clients and I…. still it beats going to the gym….
For the studio set up I used one 500w Bowens flash head with the 40° Sunlite Reflector which is designed to to mimic sunlight. I placed this to the right of the model pointing down at a 45 degree angle. I underexposed the RAW files by 1 stop in hope of retaining all detail.
At this stage the RAW files were looking somewhat uninspiring (see above). But thanks to the miracle that is photoshop we ended up with a pretty good shot…..who needs the sun:)
Special thanks too
